What a year it’s been! How we’ve missed the excitement at the track – the screaming sound of a high-speed flyby, the emotional roar of the crowd, and the amazing action that keeps us on the edge of our seats.

We may have had to stay at home while our heroes took to the track, but we still witnessed a stunning campaign - one that culminated in Joan Mir being crowned the 2020 MotoGP™ Champion.

What’s behind the magic?

We all know that the magic we see on the racetrack wouldn’t be possible without a stellar team behind the scenes. These unsung heroes ensure the magnificent moto machines are perfectly tuned and prepared for each circuit. The mechanics and technicians don't just keep their team’s bikes race ready week in and week out. They also develop new ideas and innovations – always pushing the envelope and driving the sport forward.

We know a thing or two about the importance of the team behind the machine.

At DHL, we know a thing or two about the importance of the team behind the machine. Every day, we make sure the world’s supply chains run like a perfectly tuned MotoGP™ bike. Throughout this extraordinary year, in which we’ve faced enormous logistics challenges, we wanted to celebrate these unsung heroes and the innovation behind MotoGP™.

That’s what the Team Behind the Machine contest was all about. Throughout the season, we talked with some of the sport’s best crews to delve deeper into the complexities of bike setups and racetrack characteristics. We learned so much about the intricacies of each racetrack and what mechanics must do to optimize bike performance. It was an amazing ride.

Fans test technical skills

Team Behind the Machine challenged fans to show off their technical skills and mechanic wisdom. After each race, they took a quiz with questions about the race and the racetrack. With just one correct answer, they gained one entry into the contest. Players who took all the quizzes got up to 14 chances to win the ultimate prize.
